The logo is a keyboard heart in loving remembrance of Matt as a piano player, the musical notes inside the heart are the final notes to "Let It Be", which was the final song Matt requested one of his fellow piano players, Drew Tepe, play at the conclusion of his funeral service.

Mission

The logo on the front of the shirt was drawn by Tetet Magtuto, a niece of Mark Alterio and Reby Magtuto Alterio. Reby's brother, Ricky, had his graphic artist do a professional rendering. Ricky's wife, Lisa, was instrumental in getting the initial T shirts made in their hometown, Naga City, Philippines. The initial 100 T shirts were donated by another one of Reby's brother's and his wife, Nonoy and Col Magtuto.

The mission of the MAFF Foundation is to assist, encourage, and inspire individuals and families experiencing life altering challenges.

Who We Are

The MAFF Foundation was organized in an effort to help others and honor the legacy of Matt Alterio.  He was an inspiration to many in life, and we hope to carry on his legacy and inspire and encourage others experiencing life-altering challenges in the same spirit in which Matt inspired so many in his lifetime.

We are providing port accessible T shirts to cancer patients and others who have medical ports.  We are also providing monetary gifts to help those in difficult circumstances.

Matt's wife, Mara, developed this port accessible T shirt to make it easier to access Matt's chemo port, such that he did not have to remove his shirt. The medical staff was so impressed, that they told Matt and Mara that they should start a business making these T shirts, which they had begun to do.

After Matt's passing, we decided to start a Foundation in Matt's name and with Mara's blessing, made it our mission to assist cancer patients with these T shirts in honor of Matt.

“MAFF” is significant, as Matt's grandfather, Louis Alterio, an Italian immigrant, would pronounce Matthew as Maffew. The actual letters shown on the shirt were taken from handwriting samples of Matt. On the back of the shirt are the words, Peace and Strength, which Matt exemplified. Likewise, these words are in Matt's handwriting.

We hope that the T shirts encourage those who use them to have Peace and Strength during their own battle.
